Bringing pot onto a plane?

my friends and i are going to florida from newark and we were planning on bringin pot on the plane with us. We decided to just double bag it and put in in a jar of vaseline to cover the smell, i need to know if this is a good idea or if anyone has tried and succeeded with this?
